A blog documenting the second year of my FdA Fashion course at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth in which I chose to focus on the promotional aspect of the fashion industry.

Fashion as a Forum....

Also, today we had another lesson regarding our essay for our Fashion as a Forum unit. Considering how interested and how much enjoyment I'm getting from producing my new brand I've decided to base my specialist area within the essay on branding. I plan to look at how new media has affected branding in terms of promotion, exhibition and display. I just hope this subject provides me with enough to write about!!

Another Collection for Dig.it.all...

This is another small collection I have produced which could become part of the ‘Dig.it.all’ brand. I have used the same ‘Brusho Images’ I used for the previous two ‘Brusho Collections’ however this time lightened the images to appear more subtle. I wanted to create a more feminine, summer time collection which incorporated the beautiful digital images. Using the soft, draping dresses I have chosen, paired with the lighter digital prints, I have created a feminine and delicate collection. As a result of this the collection is not quite so striking and vibrant as the others however this is a consequence of lightening the brusho images. I feel this collection provides a good contrast tothe other more vibrant collections however I need tosure it fits in with the morals and personality of the brand.

Professional Project Research Book...

I think it is a really good idea to be able to show my research digitally as well as in my sketchbook. Being able to view my research book online will be very convenient and allow different people to view my research from many different locations. This is my second attempt at uploading the book, I think it has worked better this time and is easier to view. I plan to keep this book up to date with my latest research for this project.

Professional Project Review...

So today we had our first proper project review...eek!

During the last few weeks I have been confident in my ideas in terms of the theme and the final outcome of this project and have become increasingly excited and passionate about my ideas, particularly my new brand ‘Dig.it.all’. I believe by creating a book ‘by’ ‘Dig.it.all’ (my new brand) which showcases their own work and ideas, documents why digital art within fashion is so popular and explains how digital art is developing I will be able to achieve the goals I have set myself for this project.

However, during my review this confidence and idea was tested and questioned so I have since reiterated the goals I would like to achieve from and within this project. By doing this I have been reassured that the idea for my final piece will achieve these goals and have been able to justify my initial confidence. As a result of this and because I'm so excited by my idea I plan to stick to my guns and produce the book I have explained above! Phew!

The tutors also made comments about my illustrations appearing slightly obvious and 'flat' compared with the original hand drawn designs. We talked about presenting the designs in a more abstract, creative and artistic manner which are so instantly obvious. I really like this ideas and look forward to experimenting however I'm not quite certain how it will fit into my book and brand, perhaps it could form some sort of advertising campaign.........
