A blog documenting the second year of my FdA Fashion course at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth in which I chose to focus on the promotional aspect of the fashion industry.

What Makes a Successful Image? Number 3.

Finally, I was struggling to find anyone else to ask personally so thought it might be interesting to input the question into Google and see what answers I could find on the web.

“A successful photograph is one in which the viewer, the photographer… or another, feels something, anything, from viewing the image.” Glen Pennykid, Photographer.

“A successful photograph…can capture, convey and interpret…what I’m seeing and feeling at that certain point.” Emmanuel Buenviaje, Photographer.

I wanted to focus this answer on photographs as I may attempt a photo shoot for my professional project this term and it is very helpful to hear what professional photographers believe makes a successful image. I really like the second quote here, I believe it is very important to be able to convey the correct feeling and emotion with one still image.
